How to Make a Petition

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Every citizen should know how to make a petition. This is one method of initiating change that has proven effective for centuries. Quite often situations develop where the actions of another has an impact on a group of people or their surroundings in which they may feel powerless.
r
rBy writing a petition and collecting signatures of those that support the way you feel about the issue will bring it to the forefront and help make improvements that will benefit all concerned. Whatever the situation, there will always be people in favor of it and those who are not in favor. When you get involved in petition writing (http://www.thepetitionsite.com/spirituality-and-religion), you can help change the mindset of some of the naysayers and improve society in general.
r
rWhen you start to learn how to make a petition, you do have to research the topic quite thoroughly. In some cases, you may need permission to initiate the petition from your local authorities. In order for you to present the petition and have it considered, you do need a sizable collection of signatures. Without the signatures, the petition is not valid and will therefore be dismissed, possibly without ever being read by those in authority.
r
rHow to make a petition involves writing your opening statement. This is the reason for the petition and it should be as brief as possible, yet concise. To get started, write down your feelings about the issue at hand. Go over what you write a statement that fully describes the current situation. When you are starting a petition (http://www.thepetitionsite.com/politics), it is no good just to present the problem.
r
rYou have to make suggestions as to how this situation can be improved or corrected and give details of how and why these suggestions would be improvements. Some topics for petitions require background information, which means you do have to do your research. For example, if you initiate a petition about some action in your community that is having or will have some impact on the environment; you do have to give support for this claim.
r
rNo one has time to read lengthy petition statements. This applies to those whom you ask to sign the petition and those to whom you will present it. Look for sample petitions to get ideas of how you can use concise wording that gets your point across. The petition should also start with “We, the undersigned….” showing that each person who signs this position does support your efforts to bring about change.
r
rKnowing how to write a petition also involves knowing how you are going to collect the signatures you need for it to be valid. If you have time and are using a traditional petition, you can go door to door asking people to sign their names. This will work if you are canvassing a small group of people, such as in a small town or neighborhood, but if it is an issue that affects a large number of people, this would be an impossible task.
r
rFor that reason, it is often better to write an online petition and contact as many people as you can by giving them the link to the site where they can sign. When you send the link to your contacts, ask them to send it on to others and so on. In this way you can collect a much larger number of signatures and bring the issue to a greater proportion of the population.

Spirituality- His Sweetness

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

I went to Church today really not thinking about it being the first Sunday of the year.  I am not one to think about making New Year resolutions, but I do think about trying to live a better and more meaningful life.  That is what is actually the most important part of life, how we live it and how we help others.

It seemed today that there was a flow of sweetness in the air as I sat in the pews and the songs were those of meaning with a calmness for the soul.  His spirit is such a blessed thing to feel and it can make the heart rest when nothing else can.  I watched a grandmother sob as she was seeking peace and healing for her grandchild’s cancer.  Just a baby almost,  not even a year old yet.  It seemed there were many questions, as any of us would have, why such a small innocent being would have such a terrible disease.  A child who has no sin, no enemies, no unforgiveness, only a life ahead one might think.  As I think about the grand’s pain, it is not explainable, there is nothing you can say that justifies such a things.  All one can do is simply whisper;

”Father, you are the creator of life, we ask that you forgive us any sin, we know that per the scripture, your thoughts are not our thoughts; and your ways are not our ways, but we know that your love for this child is pure and as you have said;  we must become as little children if we are to enter into the gates of heaven.  We ask that you not let this baby suffer, but make him brand new, if you choose and give peace to the family, let them feel and understand that somethings are not explainable, somethings are not fair, somethings make us search our heart to find grace to carry on but that all things work togather to the good for those that seek you. Let your sweetness flow like a river through their beings and give then peace that only you can give”. Amen

Today, I am writing from the heart as I always do and my heart is little heavy for those who have pain and sorrow that does not go away.  I believe that Spirituality in any religion or worship will cause to have compassion and mercy for those who are suffering worse than we are.  If you are reading this please whisper a prayer for Jayden.  He is as cute as a bug and he has cancer.

It seems that sometimes we want to question God when these kinds of thing occur, it makes us human but we must remember that there is always a way to learn to have faith again and we must trust Him when finding faith to go on is hard. We must remember that christian prayer is the answer to our needs.

I hope that if you need something from God, you will seek Him and search for Him with all of your heart and that this New Year will be blessed, full of hope and a sweetness, that only God can give.
